Entering a New Season

Illustration of four seasons summer, fall, spring and winter with Bible verse Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV, There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven - Ecclesiastes 3:1

Dear Lord of Life community,

I want to thank you for the very warm and gracious welcome you have extended

to me in my first few weeks as your interim pastor. This is a significant time for

Lord of Life, moving from a long season with a known and beloved pastor, into

a season of transition and unknown. I can feel the strong sense of community

here, and a spirit of openness and eagerness for the future.

In times of transition and change, the wisdom of Ecclesiastes reminds us that we

all go through seasons for specific times and purposes. A season of transition is

one such time- not something to simply survive or rush through, but an

opportunity for reflection, redirection, and growth. It is a time to look back on

where we have been, and to look forward to where God is leading us next. As

your interim pastor, I am here to accompany you through this transition time as

you prepare to welcome a new pastor and season of ministry. Before we start the

work of the transition team and the call process, I would like to take some

intentional time to hear from you as you begin this new season.

And so, I invite you to come and talk with me, to help me get to know you and

to share your thoughts about the transition, or whatever else is on your mind. I

will be holding office hours on Wednesdays at the church for you to come by or

call, or you can contact me to set up another time to meet, whether in-person or

virtually. Over the next few weeks, I will be working to meet with various

groups in the church as well, but please do not hesitate to reach out first. I am

happy to meet with small groups or individually, whatever feels most

comfortable for you.

Though seasons (and pastors!) continue to change, we have assurance that God

remains our constant and our solid foundation through it all. As the author of

Hebrews reminds us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever”

(Hebrews 13:8). We can also find comfort in knowing our mission of

participating in “God’s work, our hands” continues, even if that work looks a

little different as we go through different seasons. God gifts us with the

community of faith to support us, and the Holy Spirit to guide us, as we embark

on this journey.

I look forward to hearing from you and learning from you as we begin this

transitional season together.

Grace & peace,

Pastor Kristin
