This back-to-school season, the congregation at Lord of Life Lutheran Church demonstrated serving others the way Christ calls us to—coming together to support children and families throughout Livingston County through the Livingston Educational Service Agency’s (LESA) Backpacks for Kids program.
In mid-July through July 27, Lord of Life collected donations for school supplies, encouraging members and the surrounding community to bring in backpacks, pencils, notebooks, crayons, and more. The outpouring of generosity was incredible.
Thanks to the compassion and support of so many, a very large bin of essential school items was collected, packed, and sent to LESA just in time for their Backpacks for Kids distribution event on August 7. The supplies are now in the hands of local students who need them most—ensuring they’ll walk into the first day of school ready to learn and thrive.
A Community Coming Together
We are beyond grateful to everyone who gave so generously. These school supplies are more than just pencils and paper—they're a symbol of hope, dignity, and opportunity for kids right here in our community.
The Backpacks for Kids program helps eliminate barriers to learning by making sure every child, regardless of financial circumstance, starts the school year equipped and empowered. LESA’s distribution event on August 7 saw hundreds of families receive backpacks filled with everything their children need to succeed.
Thank you to everyone who made this outreach a success. Together, we filled backpacks—and hearts—with hope.
What’s Next?
While the school supply drive has concluded, Lord of Life remains committed to supporting students and families year-round. Keep an eye out for upcoming outreach opportunities, service projects, and community partnerships as we continue to live out our mission of love in action.
